Internship
Gaining skills and experience to tackle the challenges of the future
The international "Agrobiotechnology" Master's degree program contains a compulsory industrial internship that enables our students to gain an initial insight into the various areas of professional activity which they hope to pursue in the future. The internship also enables them to gain initial hands-on professional experience and establish contacts with potential employers. The internship can be conducted in various areas such as the chemical industry, an agricultural corporation, or the foodstuffs industry. The variety of industry contacts that our faculty possesses allow us to provide expert support to students seeking an internship.
Application and Execution
Our faculty's member of staff responsible for internships is Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Kogel. He advises our students on internships and helps decide whether the internship aimed at is likely to be of benefil for a given course of study. Students are expected to find out for themselves how to locate and apply for an internship in a company.
The minimum duration of the internship is 8 weeks and is to be accomplished within the lecture-free period between the 3rd and 4th semesters. Students may, however, choose a different time period for their internship.
Evaluation
The internship is worth 12 credit points. In order for the internship to be deemed successful,, evidence must be produced regarding both work done and skills gathered during the internship. This evidence is to be provided in the form of a brief written report and/or on the basis of discussion with the persons at the respective company who are responsible for the student.
If a student wishes to produce his/her Master's thesis at a company, this period can not be credited as internship.
